Ferrous's Custom Container Journey
A Comprehensive Guide to Understanding Your Current Stage in the Journey
1.Initial
Vision (Ideation)
Begin by envisioning your ideal container space. Consider the size, layout, interior finishes, landscaping, and any specific features you desire. Whether you're drawn to one of our pre-designed container home models, need a backyard office, or have a unique design in mind, a clear vision will help streamline the process. Explore our online galleries for inspiration, including our container home gallery, standard models, container vending units, container offices, container restrooms, and other commercial/industrial options.
Phase 1
3.Collaborative Consultation (Discovery)
Once you've explored the possibilities and have a general idea of your project, connect with our experienced Container Techs. We'll discuss your vision in detail, assess the feasibility of your container build, address any potential challenges, and determine if this solution aligns with your needs. We'll also evaluate land suitability and delivery logistics. Schedule a call with us to begin.
Phase 2

2.Permitting
and Feasibility study
With your container concept finalized and financing in place, we'll address permitting. While not always required (depending on your land), navigating the permitting process can be complex. This can be a very crucial step depending on the location of the land.
Detailed Quote
After confirming project feasibility, we'll provide a comprehensive quote. We'll review every detail together to ensure accuracy. This stage is crucial for finalizing specifications, as changes after construction begins can be costly and delay your project.
Phase 3
Phase 4
5.Invoice and Deposit
Once permitting is complete and all specifications are finalized, we'll issue a detailed invoice, which will contain the CFR price which is the cost of the goods and freight charges to your chosen port of delivery. A 50% deposit is required to initiate the project and secure your spot in our production schedule. Alternatively a 'letter of credit' can be issued to the bank of our sister company doing the building in Nigeria. The deposit or LC enables us to allocate resources and begin bringing your vision to life.
Phase 5
6.The Build Phase
With your deposit or LC confirmation, your project enters our production line. We'll keep you informed of lead times and construction progress. You'll connect with your project manager to confirm the build and floor plan. Our concurrent project management approach allows you to prepare your land while we build your container at our Lagos, Nigeria factory. You'll receive regular updates through our project management team, witnessing your dream container take shape.
Phase 6
7. Site Preparation
While we construct your container, you'll prepare your land for delivery and installation. Our blog offers guidance on land preparation. Ensure a clear and accessible delivery path (at least 10 feet wide). Simultaneous site prep and construction significantly reduces overall project time. Schedule a meeting to get started.
Phase 7
8. Delivery
Upon completion, the goods will be shipped to your specified port of delivery.
Phase 8
9 .Utility Connections
After delivery and placement, you'll connect your container to utilities (water, sewage, and electricity). Typically, a general contractor prepares these connections in advance and completes the hookup after delivery.
Phase 9
10. Personalization and Finishing Touches
Finally, it's time to personalize your new container space. Choose furniture, décor, and other elements to create the perfect atmosphere. Our blog offers inspiration and design tips for maximizing your space.
